Apple removed Threads and WhatsApp from China’s App Store as per government orders. Basically, the Chinese government has given such an order in the interest of the country’s national security. In a report on Friday (April 19), the UK news agency Reuters reported this information.

According to reports, Meta owns WhatsApp and Threads apps. Only the Chinese branch of the App Store has made this change. However, residents of other regions can still download these two apps.

In this regard, the tech giant Meta said that the Chinese government itself gave them this order due to national security concerns. They are obliged to obey the laws of the countries in which they operate. Even if you don’t agree with the decision taken by the government, you have to act according to the Chinese government’s words.

However, while the services of Threads and WhatsApp have been stopped in China, Facebook, Instagram, Messenger and other meta apps will still exist in the App Store. Even apps like YouTube and X are still available for download in China.
