Tech giant Meta will no longer pay Facebook news publishers in Australia, France and Germany. On Friday (March 1), the organization issued a notification that this decision will be issued from next month.

According to the notification, the agreement with the media of those three countries for news tab will not be renewed. Facebook News says that the special option will also be closed. News publishers will not get any new offers or benefits in future, Meta said.

Australia, France and Germany saw news reading rates drop by more than 80 percent, according to Meta. However, users in all three countries will be able to see the news in the Facebook feed, it has been reported.

Meta says that the money and resources that will be saved by closing the News tab will be used for something that people want to see on Facebook.

But why has the tech giant taken such a decision? In response, the notification issued by the meter showed business reasons. That said, people don’t come to Facebook to get news and political content. However, Ad and Revenue in the case of video content; Facebook users in Bangladesh will remain unchanged.

Earlier, Meta announced that it would not renew its contracts with media outlets in France, Germany and the UK in 2023.
